Renewable Futures

Maximum Number of Students

75

Duration

1 Day 9:30 – 2:30

Curriculum Areas

Year 7 – 10 Humanities

Description

Students design, build, and optimise miniature renewable energy systems integrating solar panels, wind turbines, and battery storage. Using a token-based economy for financial decisions, they test designs with a heliodon to simulate solar angles and analyse sensor data to enhance performance. This program develops clean energy knowledge, problem-solving skills, and teamwork.

Learning Outcomes

  • Design and construct miniature renewable energy systems
  • Optimise system performance through testing and data analysis
  • Collaborate to imagine sustainable energy solutions for local or global contexts by creating a smart city
  • Evaluate the impact of solar angles on energy generation
  • Apply systems thinking to model sustainable energy networks
