Healesville Sanctuary, located in the heart of Victoria’s Yarra Valley, is a renowned wildlife sanctuary dedicated to the conservation of native Australian species. Established in 1934, it offers visitors the opportunity to encounter over 200 species, including koalas, kangaroos, wombats, dingoes, and the elusive platypus, in a natural bushland setting. The sanctuary plays a pivotal role in breeding programs for endangered species such as the helmeted honeyeater and is one of only two facilities to have successfully bred a platypus in captivity. Visitors can engage in immersive experiences like the “Spirits of the Sky” bird show, “Wombat Pat and Play,” and “Koala Forest,” while supporting vital conservation efforts through their visit.
